Doodle Dog Care
Our Doodle Dogs are smart, happy go lucky dogs. They love EVERYONE! They are very loyal, and their new family becomes their new pack. They are very low shedding, low allergenic dogs. Bernedoodles, Aussiedoodles, & Border doodles are incredibly smart dogs. They are NOT HAPPY, sitting around for 8 hours, waiting for their master to come home. They are too smart to sit there with nothing to do. Just like a child, Bernedoodles & Aussie Doodles can develop behavior problems, if they are not engaged in human interaction, and not exercised regularly. They are not protective or aggressive. They usually love other animals, dogs, cats, especially if introduced early.
Bernedoodle & Aussiedoodle puppies want to be doing something, and if you’re not entertaining them, they may find something to do on their own (something you don’t want them to do). Exercise is a must to spend some of that excess energy. These are high energy dogs and need a job or task to keep their incredible brains busy. Taking them for several walks a day, Frisbee sessions, & training exercises are ideal to give them an outlet for that energy.
Poodles are hypoallergenic dogs, but Australian shepherds have a smooth, dual coat of hair. Bernese Mountain Dogs have thick beautiful coats, and when bred together with the Poodle they are soft and curly and rarely shed. Because of this, the Aussiedoodle, Bernedoodle, and Border doodles hair is soft, but they generally don’t shed very much. They can be groomed many different ways, depending on your preference. Doodle dog coats can be shaggy and fluffy (which requires daily brushing and monthly grooms), or can be short with soft curls, which is great for summer.
While no dogs are 100% Hypoallergenic, poodles are known to be one of the most tolerable dogs for people with allergies. Short haired dogs are usually the worst, while long haired dogs are known to be better. Bernedoodles, Borderdoodles, & Aussiedoodles do not experience a lot of serious health issues like other breeds. Due to the fact that as doodle dogs they tend to carry their ears higher than many other hybrid breeds they are often more resistant to ear infections. Like many other dog breeds, doodles may be prone to hip dysplasia and prospective owners should research the parentage to determine whether this will be a problem. We are very careful with our breeding as to avoid these kind of genetic issues. Doodle dogs should be given a healthy diet in order to maintain their health. When provided with regular check-ups and a healthy diet, doodles should enjoy an average lifespan of between twelve and fifteen years.
